Furnace Installation
in Vancouver WA

Tri-Tech has installed gas and electric furnaces across Clark and Cowlitz Counties since 1992. We'll look at your home, explain your options, and give you a free written estimate for your installation.

Need a new furnace? Call (360) 891-2002, Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, and Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm. After hours, call the same number to reach our answering service.

When replacement makes more sense than repair

  • The furnace is more than fifteen years old and needs a major component.
  • Heating bills have climbed while the house hasn't gotten any warmer.
  • Some rooms never reach the temperature on the thermostat.
  • It has needed more than one repair in a single season.
  • It has a cracked heat exchanger. That is not a repair. It is a replacement.

Why sizing matters

A furnace that is too big for the house heats quickly, shuts off, and starts again. That short cycling leaves rooms unevenly warm and wears the equipment out faster. A new furnace should be sized to your home, not simply matched to the nameplate on the old one, so we look at the house before we recommend a size.

Furnace, heat pump, or both?

A straight furnace replacement isn't always the best answer. If a heat pump or a dual-fuel system (a heat pump paired with a gas furnace for the coldest days) would serve your home better, we'll say so. The Pacific Northwest's mild winters suit heat pumps well. Tired of rising gas bills? Ask us to compare a geothermal system in your estimate, and check our Active Rebate Programs page for current offers.

How a furnace installation runs

  1. Site visit and sizing. Not a guess from the old unit’s label. Square footage, insulation, windows, layout and duct capacity all feed the size, because an oversized furnace short-cycles and an undersized one never catches up.
  2. Free written estimate. Estimates on new equipment and installations are free, and you get the options rather than a single take-it-or-leave-it number.
  3. Permit. Pulled by us, not handed back to you.
  4. Removal and install. Old unit out, new unit in, with the gas, venting and duct connections corrected rather than reused if they are wrong.
  5. Start-up and commissioning. Gas pressure, temperature rise and airflow measured and set. A furnace that runs is not the same as a furnace that is set up.
  6. Inspection and handover. Inspector signs it off, and we show you the thermostat, the filter and what maintenance it needs.

Sizing is where installations go wrong

The most common fault we find on someone else’s install is a furnace that is simply too big, usually because it was matched to whatever was there before. An oversized furnace heats the thermostat quickly, shuts off, and repeats — which feels like drafts, uneven rooms and a system that never settles, and wears the components out faster than steady running would.

The related fault is a correctly sized furnace connected to ducts that cannot carry its air. That is why we look at ductwork before quoting equipment, not after.

Repair or replace?

There is no single number that answers this, and anyone giving you one is guessing. What actually moves the decision:

  • A cracked heat exchanger — that is a replacement, not a repair
  • Parts no longer available for the model
  • Repeated failures across a single season rather than one fault
  • Running costs that have climbed while comfort has dropped
  • Whether you are staying in the house long enough to get the efficiency back

We will tell you when a repair buys you another winter, including when that is the better call.

Rebates and financing

Tri-Tech is an Energy Trust of Oregon Trade Ally and offers instant rebates: eligible Energy Trust incentives come straight off the Tri-Tech invoice, with no paperwork for you and no waiting for a cheque. Energy Trust covers NW Natural gas customers in Clark County.

Whether a particular incentive applies to your home depends on your utility and the equipment, so the office confirms that rather than us promising it here. Financing is available through Synchrony, subject to application. See also active rebate programs.

Related work

If the existing furnace may still be worth saving, start with furnace repair. A heat pump heats and cools from one system and is worth comparing before you commit to gas. The gas supply is gas piping, the flue is venting, and the distribution is ductwork.

Where we work

Vancouver, Salmon Creek and Camas, and across Clark and Cowlitz Counties — including Woodland, Kalama, Longview, Battle Ground, Hockinson and Ridgefield. If you are just outside that, call and ask; the office will tell you straight.

Furnace installation questions we get

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. Free estimates apply to new equipment and installations. Repairs and service calls are different, and we say so rather than letting you find out later.

What brands do you install?

York, Mitsubishi Electric and American Standard. We are a York certified dealer, a Mitsubishi Electric dealer and American Standard certified.

How long does an installation take?

A straightforward furnace changeout is commonly a single day. Adding duct or venting work, or a tighter space than the old unit, extends it — and the site visit is where that gets established rather than on the morning of.

Should I get a heat pump instead?

Worth comparing honestly. A heat pump does heating and cooling from one system and suits this climate well; a gas furnace has the edge in sustained cold. We will lay out both rather than steer you.

Do you guarantee the work?

We guarantee our work 100%. Equipment warranties are the manufacturer’s and vary by model, which the office will confirm for whatever you are considering.
